Department of Teacher Education
Teacher Education's Vision
Schools are democratic institutions where teachers, administrators, students, staff, parents and other community members possess leadership qualities directly related to achieving school goals.
Thus bold, socially responsible educational leaders work effectively with the processes that bring these qualities to the fore front so that they may assist them in the further development of those qualities, and focus them toward equitable outcomes for children and adults.
Mission Statement
We prepare teachers who are dedicated to the academic achievement of all students, and who demonstrate a commitment to life-long, professional growth and school leadership. The Department of Teacher Education offers post-baccalaureate and graduate programs to prepare teachers who are committed to improving school practices for California's diverse student populations and who can model such practices in their own classrooms.
