English Proficiency Requirements

*Please note that if you are applying for a Second Bachelor’s Degree, you will need to meet the requirements of a Graduate applicant.
*Please note scores are only valid for two years from the exam date.

English Proficiency waiver requirements

TOEFL or IELTS can be waived for applicants who meet English proficiency by coursework as follows:

• Transferred from a U.S. college with 60 or more semester units with a minimum grade point average of 2.4, and have completed a transfer course in each of the following general education areas with a grade of 2.0 or better: English composition, speech, critical thinking, and mathematics.
• Demonstrate 3 years of full-time academic study in the following countries where the language of instruction was English as accepted by Cal State East Bay.

English Proficiency waiver requirements

TOEFL or IELTS can be waived for applicants who received a bachelor’s degree or higher from a U.S. college or university, or an international college or university OR demonstrated 3 years of full-time academic study at a post-secondary level in a country where the language of instruction was English as accepted by Cal State East Bay.
