Students are encouraged to drop-in with questions, meet with study groups, or hang out and work on homework. Check the website for exact days/times when there will be an LA available to help with your specific course: www.csueastbay.edu/stemlab. Looking for a place to study or meet with your classmates? The STEM LAB open study hours are:
- In-person: Monday-Thursday 9am-5pm (SC-S 142 and SC-S 149), Friday 9am-12pm (SC-S142)

Faculty FAQ
LAs are a resource for faculty implementing active learning and a source of feedback from the student perspective. LAs engage in four main activities:
- Attend every class session and interact with students in class.
- Provide drop-in support for students in any section of the course in the STEM LAB.
- Host a study session for the students before each exam.
- Participate in various training and professional development: Pre-semester Orientation, Biweekly LA Staff Meetings, Biweekly Course Conversations with faculty and TAs, and weekly Pedagogy Workshops during the first 6 weeks as an LA.
Faculty members and TAs with an LA should engage in four main tasks:
- Build a safe environment for continued collaboration and feedback (it is “our” class).
- Use materials that facilitate active learning in order to utilize the LA during class time.
- Engage with LAs in biweekly STEM LAB Course Conversations.
- Regularly check in with the LA for feedback from the previous week and prepare them for the upcoming week.
There are several peer academic support resources available to CSUEB students!
