Overview
The federal government's TRIO programs are designed to: identify promising junior and senior high school students (Talent Search); prepare high school students with potential for college level work (Upward Bound); provide information about college and financial aid to displaced and underemployed workers (Educational Opportunity Centers); provide tutoring and support services to students once they reach campus (EXCEL - Student Support Services) to ensure college retention and graduation; and encourage undergraduates to prepare for college teaching careers and doctoral studies (McNair).
