Online Support

The EXCEL program offers online services to help program participants access to their Academic Enrichment Counselor. Instead, a program participant may wish to communicate simple questions via e-mail between scheduled appointments. The online appointment system is not intended to replace the need to meet regularly with an academic counselor or coach.

 

Ways to use EXCEL Online Appointments

  • Academic advising questions
  • Provide resource information for student tutoring, financial aid and scholarships
  • Direct students to appropriate on and off campus resources based on their needs.
  • Inform your Academic Enrichment Counselor what is going on with your course(s)
  • Ask questions about adding or dropping a course
  • Not sure what to do. . .

 

How to make an appointment on BayAdvisor

 

Step by Step Instructions

  1. Log in BayAdvisor with your NetID and password
  2. Select Schedule an Appointment
  3. Under What type of appointment would you like to schedule? Select “Advising
  4. Under Care Unit, select Advising”.
  5. Under Location, select "Student Equity and Success Program - SF".
  6. Under Service, select "EXCEL Advising".
  7. Also select your meeting type - Virtual/Zoom, Phone or In Person
  8. Your assigned staff's availability will appear on the right side. Choose a date and time that works for your schedule and does not conflict with class time or work. 
  9. Once you have selected a date, you will see a confirmation page. Please review the appointment details and make any notes you would like to share with your counselor in the notes section of the confirmation screen. The zoom link for your counseling session will be in this screen. You may also request a reminder email and text sent be sent to you
  10. Click "Confirm". (note: It is your responsibility to schedule an appointment that fits your schedule. If you need to cancel your appointment, please do so at least 24 hours in advance. If you are unable to cancel within 24 hours, please email your assigned staff directly.)

 

Troubleshooting for BayAdvisor

  • Bay Advisor works best on Chrome or Firefox. Safari and Internet Explorer don't work. Also it does NOT work on mobile Internet, so use a desktop or laptop computer
    • Tablet and phone are okay to use when you are accessing your advisor's Personal Availability Link (PAL) which is mobile friendly.
  • Start fresh. Be sure to clear your browsing Cache, Cookies, and History.
  • When you log in, DO NOT use the saved password that might be populating in, especially if this is your first time logging in.
    • If you have recently changed your password, you may need to delete your saved password for the SSO site. This can be found in your browser settings.
  • Your net ID is case sensitive. Use lower case letters xx1234 vs Xx1234 or XX1234
  • Lastly, click the box that says "Don't Remember Login" the first time you log in. Once you get in, you should be good to leave the box unchecked.

 

How to RSVP for a workshop, event or activity on BaySync

As an EXCEL student, you must attend at least two gatherings each semester

  1. Log in BaySync with your NetID and password
  2. On the BaySync home page, select the EXCEL Program
  3. On the EXCEL Program page - find the All Events area and click on "View More Events" to see whole list
  4. Find an event that looks interesting or helpful for you then select it
  5. View event information and click "continue to RSVP"
  6. Fill out your information to RSVP then click RSVP button
  7. You'll get an email confirmation. You can also select to add it to calendar!
