Cal State East Bay publishes over 125 scholarship opportunities annually with awards ranging from $500 to $10,000. To apply, check out Pioneer Scholarships for more information on need-based and merit scholarships through individual departments, College of Science, CSUEB, the CSU System, and external organizations.

JOAN SIEBER / RIC TOMBARI GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP
The Joan Sieber / Ric Tombari Graduate Scholarship is offered to all currently enrolled graduates and graduating seniors who have been accepted to a graduate program at any university. To qualify for this opportunity, applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

Be an enrolled undergraduate CSUEB student, who will enter graduate school at any university (not restricted to CSUEB) in the fall
-
Have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
-
Must have volunteer service contributions history within the community and/OR the University (submitted via the General Application)

Graduate students at CSUEB may reapply for this scholarship
Award will disburse in the Fall 2024 term
GUY WARREN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
The E. Guy Warren Memorial Scholarship is awarded to students who are seniors majoring in Science or Mathematics. To qualify for this opportunity, applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

Be a CSUEB senior with a major in Science or Mathematics

Have completed 36 units at CSUEB at time of application submission

Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0

Submit two personal letters of reference from CSUEB faculty members

ERNEST CLEMENTS SCHOLARSHIP
The Ernest Clements Scholarship is awarded to undergraduate sophomores or juniors in the College of Science. To qualify for this opportunity, applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

Be a CSUEB junior or sophomore (at time of application) in the College of Science

Have completed 36 units (or in progress) at CSUEB with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
-
Provide two letters of recommendation from CSUEB faculty

COLLEGE OF SCIENCE SCHOLARSHIP
The College of Science Scholarship provides scholarships and awards for undergraduate students in the College of Science. To qualify for this opportunity, applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

Be an undergraduate student with a declared major within the College of Science

Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
-
Demonstrate financial need by thoroughly answering the Financial Need Statement question: Explain your financial need, and be sure to talk about how this scholarship will help with the cost of your education.

Demonstrate high achievement in science by submitting a supplemental statement that highlights those achievements and/or describes one or more high-quality project/s or poster presentation/s

Submit two letters of recommendation
CHERRIE NANNINGA SCHOLARSHIP FOR THE PROMOTION
OF WOMEN IN STEM
To qualify for Cherrie Nanninga Scholarship for the Promotion of Women in STEM, applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

Have a minimum GPA of 3.0

Be a junior in the Fall of 2022 in the College of Science
-
Majoring in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Geology, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Nursing, Health Sciences or construction Management.

Submit a 300-500 word essay that demonstrates how the scholarship will help the your career goals in STEM and will promote, advance, and inspire women in the STEM field.
Award will disburse in the Fall 2024 term
ALFONSO GUTIÉRREZ GO TO THE MOON
MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP IN STEM
The purpose of the Alfonso Gutiérrez Go to the Moon Memorial Scholarship in STEM is to assist undergraduate students pursuing a major in Biological Sciences, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Computer Science, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, and/or Statistics and Biostatistics within the College of Science at CSU East Bay.
To qualify for this opportunity, applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

Must be an undergraduate student must be pursuing a major in one of the following departments: Biological Sciences, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Computer Science, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, and/or Statistics and Biostatistics.

Must be in good academic standing.
-
Must demonstrate financial need as evidenced by a) a completed FAFSA or CA Dream Act or b) a statement stating how the scholarship will help with the recipient’s cost of attendance.

Must write a 500 word statement that demonstrates how this award will help the recipient’s career goals in STEM and will promote, advance, and inspire Latinos in STEM and/or share the awardee’s participation in affinity groups or projects that support the Latino community

THE MALAVALLI FAMILY EXCELLENCE
IN STEM SCHOLARSHIP
The Malavalli Family Excellence in STEM Scholarship is eligible to incoming freshmen or returning Cal State East Bay students who meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Must be an incoming freshman or a returning undergrad East Bay student who has attended one of the following high schools: Mt. Eden, Hayward High or Tennyson High School.
- Continuing students must be majoring in one of the following areas: Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or Environmental Science. Incoming freshmen must declare on their application the intent to major in one of the above areas.
- Students must document that they have participated in affinity groups (school/campus or community club affiliations) that support African American and/or Latinx communities.
- Demonstrate financial need as evidenced by a) a completed FAFSA or b) a statement how the scholarship will help with the cost of the recipient’s education

Award will disburse evenly in the Fall 2024 semester
