Taught by nationally-certified coders, Cal State East Bay’s Certificate in Medical Billing and Coding gives individuals interested in healthcare careers the necessary skills to obtain a position as a medical biller or coder in a hospital, medical clinic, physician's office or insurance company.
The 12-week course starts Oct. 12 and no application is required to enter the program.
Those who follow Cal State East Bay's certificate program — with the suggested practical work experience — may be qualified to sit for the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) Exam, the Certified Professional Coder Exam (CPC or CPC-H Apprentice), the American Health Information Management Association's Certified Coding Associate (CCA) Exam, and/or other national certification exams.
The program is conveniently offered in the evenings on Mondays and Wednesdays at the downtown Oakland Center. The course tuition cost is $2,178.
