Kazim Ali – poet, fiction writer and essayist – will read from his most recent books when he appears Monday, Oct. 21, at California State University, East Bay as the featured author for the Distinguished Writers Series presented by the university’s English Department.
The 6 p.m. event will be held in the Biella Room of the University Library on CSUEB's Hayward Campus, 25800 Carlos Bee Blvd. Admission is free, and the public is invited. A book signing and question and answer session will follow.
Ali has published eight books, including three poetry works and five that are novels or essays. His latest book, containing poetry, is Sky Ward (Wesleyan University Press, 2013). Two other books containing his poetry are The Far Mosque and The Fortieth Day. His books of prose include Quinn’s Passage; The Disappearance of Seth Bright Felon: Autobiography and Cities; Orange Alert: Essays on Poetry, Art and the Architecture of Silence; and Fasting for Ramadan.
