Katherine Bell, Cal State East Bay assistant professor of communication and media
Katherine Bell, Cal State East Bay assistant professor of communication and media, provided comments for an article in USC’s Daily Trojan about the future of the cable television industry.
When asked if she thought cable will go the way of the VHS and analog, Bell replied, “There will have to be pressure on cable companies to unbundle and to provide more channels. I don’t think cable companies are in imminent danger, but I do think that the landscape keeps on shifting with digital media.”
In addition to earning her Ph.D. in communication from the University of Washington, Bell is a career journalist who has worked in newspapers and with The Canadian Press news agency as a reporter, editor and news manager. As a reporter she focused on environmental and industrial development issues as well as on the rural economy, religion and social justice.
