Interested in serving as an English-language teacher in the U.S. and overseas? Cal State East Bay’s Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) gives graduates the theoretical foundation and practical skills necessary to become confident and effective English-language teachers. Students enrolled in the program will learn the necessary skills and confidence in writing lesson plans, designing curricula, conducting assessments, and other areas, as they apply to a second-language classroom.
The program also meets the needs of international students who intend to become English-language teachers. The specifically tailored TESOL curriculum includes courses that will make them more confident English users, as well as teachers.
Taught by top TESOL instructors, students who enter the program will learn and apply the most effective and up-to-date second-language teaching techniques. Interested students also can obtain a master's degree in English with a focus on TESOL.
To earn a certificate in TESOL, students must complete four required courses.
Classes are held in the evenings at CSUEB’s Hayward Hills Campus.
