Cal State East Bay’s eighth annual Queerfest, a weeklong series of events that celebrate people of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, will be held Feb. 11 through 14 on the Hayward campus.
Events will include:
Feb. 11, 12:00pm, Diversity Center: Intersex: The Spectrum of Diversity- This presentation will provide an overview of the predominant historical, scientific, religious, and political milieus surrounding individuals that have not and do not fit the standard binary male or female identity. Discourse on present and future “categorizations” across cultures globally will be encouraged through audience comments and questions. Facebook event page

Feb. 12, 4:00pm, Diversity Center: Marriage Equality: Ethics and Legality - A discussion of the ethical and legal issues surrounding same-sex marriage (and the problem with that term), facilitated by Philosophy Professor Jennifer Eagan. Feb. 13, 4:00pm, Diversity Center: Queer Ally Training - Learn how to be an ally to the queer community. Understand the issues present in the queer community along with campaigns that are happening. This will be a safe space to ask questions. Facebook event page
Feb. 14, 11:00am-2:00pm, Agora Stage: K.I.S.S. Carnival - Play games, win prizes, ask questions & get answers on questions pertaining to sex health and safe sex. Hosted by Peer Advocates for Wellness (P.A.W.). Facebook event page
