Famed music historian and social justice activist, Davey D. will discuss the state of Hip Hop with Todd Anthony Show - aka Too Short - on Tuesday, November 13 at 6pm in the MPR of the new University Union.

Oakland’s Too Short has been rapping longer than many rappers have been alive, writes The Fader, and he remains one of hip-hop’s most craft-conscious entertainers.   With multiple classic albums under his belt and a catalog that spans a number of eras as well as decades, Too Short reigns as the godfather of Bay Area Hip-Hop.  No stranger to controversy, Too Short was overwhelming criticized and has since issued an apology for an advice video he released via XXLMag.com earlier this year.

Interviewer Davey D. is a long time Oakland resident, a social justice advocate, and the host of the syndicated Hard Knock Radio which airs daily on KPFA 94.1 FM in the Bay Area. He is an adjunct professor at SF State and founder of Davey D’s Hip Hop Corner. His writings are frequently referenced and quoted by journalists, scholars and professors and fans around the world.

Please note that this free event is a conversation, not a musical performance. The event is hosted by Associated Students, Inc. (ASI). Contact ASI for more information at  associated.students@csueastbay.edu or (510)885-4843.
