The Cal State East Bay community is invited to watch the three televised presidential debates and participate in a post-debate discussion on October 3, 16 and 22. Sponsored by Associated Students, Inc., CSUEB Diversity Center and the CSUEB Young Democrats, the debate watches will start at 6:00pm in the CSUEB Diversity Center and offer free refreshments to participants.
October 3
The October 3 debate will focus on domestic policy and will be moderated by Jim Lehrer (host of NewsHour on PBS).
October 16
The second presidential debate will take the form of a town meeting, in which citizens will ask questions of the candidates on foreign and domestic issues. Candidates each will have two minutes to respond, and an additional minute for the moderator, CNN Chief Political Correspondent Candy Crowley, to facilitate a discussion. The town meeting participants will be undecided voters selected by the Gallup Organization.
October 22
The final presidential debate will focus on foreign policy and will be moderated by Bob Schieffer (host of Face the Nation on CBS).
In addition to participating in debate watches, the CSUEB community is encouraged to register to vote. California residents with valid driver’s licenses or identification cards may register online
