"The Mozart of the 19th Century."

Whether or not the title quite fits, Felix Mendelssohn was one of the greatest composers of classical music's Romantic period.

John Kendall Bailey, music director, conductor and chorus master of Trinity Lyric Opera in Castro Valley, will explore the life and music of this gifted and prolific master at the next Osher Lifelong Learning Institute presentation.

The analysis of Mendelssohn's work, including excerpts from his compositions, is set for 2-3:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 14 on the Concord Campus, 4700 Ygnacio Valley Blvd. Admission is free to OLLI members, and $5 for non-members. For information, call 925-602-6776.

Remember, there's more to Mendelssohn than just that great wedding march!
