President Qayoumi leads "Green Architecture/Exploratorium" course
Construction continues on the Student Services Administration building on the Hayward Campus of California State University, East Bay.

Just what is green architecture? How do ordinary consumers and institutions like universities connect to it? Join CSUEB President Qayoumi, Professor Karina Garbesi, and Jill Johnsen to learn how rising energy costs and newfound environmental awareness are driving architects and builders to change the way we construct our homes and institutions.
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute will present the “Green Architecture/Exploratorium” course from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. March 8, 15 and 22. The course will take place at the Concord Campus, 4700 Ygnacio Valley Road in Concord.
CSUEB President Mo Qayoumi along with Garbesi, professor and chair of geography and environmental studies, and Johnsen, lecturer in physics, will explore the issues, challenges and opportunities associated with building green. The capstone for the course will be a Bay Area-wide OLLI symposium sharing green architectural ideas, held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 17 at the Crissy Field presentation theatre of the San Francisco Exploratorium.
