Nursing Professor Roberta Durham is doing a Fulbright Fellowship in Jordan this year and was recently featured on the University of Jordan website. According to the article, Durham was at the university to meet with the Maternal and Child Health Department to advise on their upcoming Maternal Newborn Health Master’s program curriculum, expected to launch in the 2019-2020 academic year.

Lecturer Stephen Morewitz’s film “Nobody Wants Us” will premiere at the United Jewish Community Virginia Peninsula in Newport News, Virginia Jan. 12. The documentary is based on interviews with survivors from the World War II-era Portuguese passenger-cargo ship SS Quanza, court records, ship records, immigration records, National Archives documents and 1940 newspaper and magazine articles.

Associate Professor Vanessa R. Yingling was recently named the Diversity Committee chair for a new organization called the Society for Transparency, Openness, and Replication in Kinesiology, which aims to improve research methods and practices in sport and exercise science.

Half a dozen Cal State East Bay professors, staff and recently-graduated students recently had a paper published on PeerJ about the relationship between physical performance and cognitive performance in ethnically diverse older adults. The paper was researched and written by Assistant Professor of Kinesiology Jennifer Sherwood, Associate Professor Cathy Inouye, Professor of Statistics and Biostatistics Ange Zhou, Lab Technician Shannon L. Webb and recent graduates Erik A. Anderson and Nicole S. Spink.
