The event will also be streamed live to the Concord campus and to the overflow room in MB 1055 on the Hayward campus. The event will feature an address by President Leroy M. Morishita at 9 a.m., preceded by refreshments beginning at 8 a.m. in the Theatre Courtyard. Professor of engineering David Bowen has been named a 2019 Kika De La Garza Education Fellow which will provide him firsthand experiences in policymaking and research at the USDA. A new book written by several Cal State East Bay professors about skateboarding becoming more mainstream was featured on NBC Bay Area. The California State University highlighted an interdisciplinary project between the art and kinesiology project departments where students are learning to use 3-D printing technology to print the missing pieces from skeletons. Professor of theater and dance Darryl V. Jones was featured in an article highlighting the upcoming immersive production of “Rime of the Ancient Mariner.” Associate professor of criminal justice Lisa Hill recently penned an article published in the Tracy Press entitled “Parenting requires courage.” Associate professor of biology Erica Wildy was recently featured in an article from National Geographic about her work studying long-toed salamanders
Cal State East Bay included in annual Forbes ranking list Cal State East Bay is one of America’s best value colleges. According to a recent listing from Forbes Magazine, the university is No. 108 of 300 universities and colleges analyzed nationwide for their value. The listings, which are curated annually are scored using the following six areas: quality; net price; net debt; alumni earnings; timely graduation; and access for low-income students. Also taken into consideration — fees, room and board, grants and scholarships. The university has improved its ranking year-over-year since the list was first published three years ago. In 2017, Cal State East Bay ranked No. 240, and in 2018, it was No. 121. In-state tuition at the university for the upcoming 2019-20 school year is $6,984 per year, and 75 percent of students receive some form of financial aid. Cal State East Bay was included alongside other California State University campuses including CSU Long Beach (No. 53) and CSU Los Angeles (No. 139).
