Michael Fanning, Ed.D. is an Instructor, in the Department of Educational Leadership, CSU East Bay. He teaches courses to prepare educators who will become bold, courageous, socially responsible leaders who will use collaborative methods to support schools which will provide equity and access to learning for all students.
Dr. Fanning served in public schools for over eleven years as a teacher, five years as a school principal, and at the district office he served as Director for Human Resources and as Director, Curriculum and Instruction. He has taught at the university level since 2000.
Michael and his family enjoy hiking, visiting gardens, and travel.
Dr. Fanning has conducted research to explore the communication methods used by the effective school leaders, portfolios for teachers and school leaders, teacher stress, and the strategies used by school leaders in closing the Achievement Gap. He has presented his research at state, national, and international conferences. Dr. Fanning has also served as an international accreditation reviewer and consultant.
