In my lab, undergraduate and graduate students collaborate to unravel the molecular mechanisms that underlie plants’ abilities to adapt, communicate, learn, and potentially live forever.
Specific research questions we are currently pursuing are:
• How can some plants grow where other plants can not?
• How do plant roots and shoots communicate with each other?
• Do plants have a memory, and can they learn?
• How can some plants live forever?
To explore these research questions, we are using a wide variety of experimental approaches that include next-generation sequencing, genome editing with CRISPR-Cas, qRT-PCR, proteomics, bioinformatics, and plant learning set-ups. If you are interested in our research, feel free to e-mail me!
