CS Professor Speaks at CA Governor's Office of Emergency Services
Computer Science professor, Yashas Hariprasad, spoke at the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services on April 30th. During the event, he shared his work in building an AI-native cybersecurity workforce, his area of expertise. The event afforded him the opportunity to connect with potential collaborators from academia, industry, government, and the military.
Guest Lecturers Visit CS Classes
Two guest speakers recently visited Ahmed Banafa’s classes, sharing real-world insights with students. Khalil Estell, a former Google engineer, spoke on tech careers and operating systems, while Tem Ysmael of Stanford’s Hoover Institution presented on AI and cybersecurity. Both sessions sparked strong engagement, with students actively asking questions and seeking career advice.
Researcher Visits CS Department
As part of the 2025-2026 CAHSI Google IRP Program Award, Dr. Hongmin Li, Computer Science, invited her collaborator, Dr. Doina Caragea to visit our campus from March 14-16, 2026. Dr. Carraga, Professor and Don and Linda Glaser Keystone Research Scholar in the Department of Computer Science at Kansas State University, collaborates with Dr. Li on a project entitled: Robust and Well-Calibrated Semi-Supervised Models for Disaster Response.
