To be considered for admission as a lower division student, you must meet the following requirements no later than the end of the prior spring term for fall admission and by the end of the previous fall term for spring admission:
- Have completed less than 60 transferable semester units at the point of transfer
- Have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 (C) or better in all transferable units attempted
- Have completed A2 (Written Communication) and B4 (Quantitative Reasoning/Math) with grade of C- or better
- Be in good standing at the last institution attended
- Meet all freshman admission requirements
- Have graduated from high school or taken and passed the GED
- Have completed the A-G college prep requirements
- Have a 2.50 or greater GPA as a California resident or California high school graduate
- Have a 3.00 or greater GPA as a non-resident or non-California high school graduate
* Lower-division applicants may not apply to Nursing or Pre-Nursing. Upper division applicants (students with more than 60 transferable units) may apply to the Nursing major.
Offical, Final High School Transcript Requirement
Freshman and lower division applicants are required to submit official, final high school transcripts prior to the transcript deadline of 7/1 for the fall semester and 1/15 for the spring semester to clear admission conditions. Applicants are reminded to submit transcripts by multiple email communications from the Office of Admissions and via to do items on MyCSUEB.
Official, final transcripts are transcripts sent via postal mail or transmitted directly from the high school to Cal State East Bay (or an approved 3rd party vendor). Official transcripts MUST bear valid seals and official signatures. To be considered final, the transcripts must include all courses taken in high school and graduation date.
*High school diploma is not accepted and cannot be used in lieu of the official, final transcript for the evaluation of freshman admission requirements.
